Walls and Windows

WALLS

When was the last time your walls were cleaned? More than likely, never.  Walls are one of the most neglected areas of a home, but can be a magnet for dust, mold, mildew, and other allergens. A simple solution is to mix together in a bucket, one part vinegar to five parts water. Lightly damp a clean cloth with this mixture, wipe down the entire surface of the walls.  This can make a big difference if you have allergies and just feel cleaner. If you have crayon or stains on your walls , baking soda and water may be able to  help remove them. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations first before applying, as this tip may not be suitable for all wall surfaces, including some kinds of paint or wallpaper.

WINDOWS AND SCREENS

Have you ever thought about using vinegar to clean your windows? To keep your windows clean, mix one part vinegar and one to two parts warm water. Put the mixture in a spray bottle or bucket, depending on how many windows you are cleaning. Apply the mixture by spraying directly on the window or applying with a sponge.  Then, grab some old newspaper, crumple  them up and use it to clean your windows for a lint and streak free finish. It really works-and is a great way to reuse newspaper. If your now convinced that newspapers will work, you can use coffee filters (you will go through a lot of them). A washable lint-free microfiber cloth or a squeegee will work as well.

If you have really dirty windows, you might need to give them a prewash. Add a squirt of dishwashing liquid to a gallon of warm water, use this mixture and a sponge, or if you have really dirty windows use full strength vinegar to remove the worst of the dirt or any residue from previously used commercial cleaning products. For a nicer smelling alternative, mix in a spray bottle two tablespoons lemon juice and one quarter cup vinegar. Fill the rest of the bottle with warm water and shake well before using. Then use the vinegar-water mixture mentioned above for a nice and shiny and streak-free windows.

If you have paint splatters on your windows, heat a little bit  of lemon juice or vinegar. Apply generously to the spot with a soft cloth, then rub until it loosens. You may need to use a bit of elbow grease if the paint spot is old.  If you have any questions or need professional  help, contact A C Painting for all your painting needs and don't forget to register your email for exclusive discounts and promotions at www.acpainting.work.
